3 phase.mag/coils

Postby conntaxman on Wed Jan 09, 2008 4:16 am

I would like to know when making a stator and the coils for a 3 phase if I can use 15 magnets and 12 coils. I know most of the time its 12 magnets and 9 coils.
Because 3 phase you need 3 coils wired together .Im useing a 12 inch saw blade to mount the magnets on, and it will take 15 magnets 1 1/2 round.

Hi Johnny. 3 phase doesnt mean 3 coils necessarily - it means three groups of coils. So for 12 coils that implies 4 coils per phase. Can you post a diagram? That will make it easier to see what you are planning.
