The Wind is Free!

Hi,

I've spent the past day or two dutifully studying the science behind building a wind turbine and I'm really keen to try get one up and running. Before I start I want to measure the wind speeds at the installation site over time. Does anyone know of a local source for affordable anemometers, or even anemometer kits? I don't want to spend too much money, but don't want to spend weeks just building one from scratch either.

An old small DC motor, with three cups on the top. Calibrate wind speed vs voltage by driving in your car (on a windless day). Still it on a pole,
attach wires and a voltmeter, and there you go!

Logging it over time is not so simple.... let me know if you come up with a cunning plan for that!
