This is a little bit off-topic, but still within context.

How's this test rig?

Its great! I get the feeling I've seen that pic before - from some guys in the middle of the USA?

I want to make one! Its a LOT cheaper than a wind tunnel. Of course, you have to wait for a windless day.

And also hope that nothing falls off, as it will come right through the windsreen. Was tempted to design one to go on the back to avoid that danger, but of course the air would be disturbed there.

Thats good, thanks. I was interested to see how far forward it was mounted. Did you do any measurements to check if the airflow at the bottom of the blades was altered by the nose of the truck? I notice the wind speed meter is way off to one side.

(I want to do the same with a friends bakkie...)

Please be careful before mounting stuff on a bakkie.
And if you do, try to put it behind the yourself.
I have a quite a few more pictures. Some are
showing a fatal pole failure while testing.
Fiberglass all over the runway. I hope no
airplane tires where punctured because of that :)
