Are you planning to patent this invention and developing the idea into a commercial enterprise? I thought of this same idea this morning only to find that you thought of it a year ago. I am also in Cape Town, so it seems like a logical idea given the wind here.

Hi Steven. I dont think a patent is appropriate, because there is really nothing innovative about it. Its more a way of making it oneself using locally available parts. You emailed me some questions about average household usage and payback times - its quite a process to work all that out. If you would like to try to detail that, perhaps start with your own house, as a way of learnign the factors involved. I'd be happy to help...

Starting point is number of KW hours per month or week used, preferably split between heating (stove, water etc.) and non heating. Even that is not always easy to work out!
