rotors/coils

Hello to freewind , me, Kabous is bussy with "schoolfee" running down the drain . Q can i use 16 magnets insted of 12 on my 30cm rotor with a 3 phase stator ( 9 coils /3 in series - star ). Am i right to say for 3 phase u can use any number of mags , as long it is 4,8,12,16,20...confugaration? Nice site , sorry for my spelling but im a boertjie.

The pattern of the magnets is what is important relative to the coils. I know 12 magnets to 9 coils works. For other combinations, I would need to see the layout you plan to use before I can say if it would work.

Hi

I was told the rule of thumb is 4 magnets for every 3 coils.
If you want 16 magnets per rotor, you should have 12 coils; 4 coils per phase.

The tickness of a stator coil , is there any rule of thump according the mag size ? To put two mags o n top of each other , wil the flux be duble? wil the flux be the same strong as for a twin rotor? An average rotor speed vor a 1,2m radius 3blade and a average rpmspeed for a 5 feet radius 3 blade.

No, the more turns per coil you can fit in , the better. The higher the turns per coil the higher amps.
I`m trying to get my hands on wedge shape magnets (32). The size of the magnets will cause my rotor discs to be 430mm in diameter. This means the stator will be the same diameter, which leaves plenty of space for 12 huge coils. I`m hoping to achieve 67 turns with 1.5mm wire that should give me coil thickness of 15mm wide x 9mm high.

Not true... If you have too many coils, the resistance torque of the generator can be too high for the blades, which can mean that the blades do not spin fast enough to be efficient.
