Re: Stator material

hey guys need some help. I'm extremly new to wind power and i'm having trouble with just the basics i'm comfused on how the phases work. and i dont understand when making the coils, are they all made from one strand of wire wrapped over and over? do all the coils go clockwise or ...

costs and benefits

Hi Peter. Congratulations on your achievement. So tell us the bottom line, more than a year into the project. How much have you spent in total? How much electricity have you generated? What is your cost per kilowatt hour? How does it compare to the pool (grid) price, and to the ...

Re: Pretoria Area

... it could cause some damage to the property of surrounding neighbours. Your thoughts on this would be very valuable. Also would you perhaps know how long it would take the turbine to charge a bank of 4 deep cycle 100ah batteries? I might be able to add a 75 watt solar panel to this as well depending ...

Re: Stator material

... you tested with no load? If so that would give far higher rpm than you will get with some resistance e.g. from a generator. The question is not how fast can it turn, but how much power (force x speed) can it output. So maybe do those tests again with something braking the rotation. Of course ...

Re: Stator material

hi windgat. YOu are right,I made a mistake when I said 12 mag,and 12 coils.should be 9 coils. How would this work.24 magnets and 18 coils on one disk.I know that is the same as useing 2 disk.I think that I just answered my own question. I just got my magnets in [and they ...

Re: Static stator gereration

So, next idea... how about a mechanical system that rotates the magnets as the rotor turns, so that the N pole is facing the one leg of the coil, and then flips so that the S pole faces the opposite lef of the coil? That way DC will be generated directly?

Re: How?

The system has a sine wave inverter built in which is in sync with the 50 Hz alternating mains. it then increases the voltage slightly in the system causing current to flow back into the mains as a load. Monitoring this very carefully and not allowing a phase shift to take place. At the moment the s...

Re: Stator material

... on one rotor? For two rotors (one each side of the stator) the wood may take up too much space. 12 coils and 12 magnets? That doesn't sound right. How will you get three phase out of that?

How much power does a household need?

... an inverter to turn the battery DC current into the AC current that most domestic appliances require), so the full answer to this requires knowing how many minutes a day the kettle (for example) is used, and how much wind is available over time. Also, if you have grid power, during times of high ...

Re: Magnets

Hi flyfish, thanks! I am thinking of getting some 2x1x0.5 inch epoxy coated N42 grade magnets shipped here. If you want in, let me know, and I will get an extra set or two shipped at the same time. How many would you use?

How's it Windgat?
Looking for 1.4mm wire.(enough to wind 6 coils of 25 turns using 3wires in hand) .thanks for the info will check out this magnet company during the week. Are you constructing wind generators for personal use or do you have a greater plan?

Re: Static stator gereration

Yes I suspect what i was trying was impossible. Its a nice idea to play with though! How could one arrange magnets, coil and shielding so that one leg of the coils (say the inward/hubward leg) is cut by more magnetic flux than he other leg (say the outward/rimward ...

How?

How on earth do you/the electric board get it in phase with the national grid? Won't you lose a lot of energy converting it to the correct 50/60 Herts? I'm guessing transformers are involved somewhere...or maybe not!
